A Seat at the Table: Discussing Homelessness Solutions with U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack

In March of 2024, RPM participated in a think tank session with U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, who is also slated to become the future chair of the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH). This critical conversation focused on collaborative efforts to address homelessness in the Phoenix region, specifically exploring successful approaches that can be implemented on a national scale through the USDA and USICH.

RPM seized the opportunity to showcase our innovative modular housing work undertaken in partnership with the City of Phoenix and Family Promise. These projects aimed at providing essential resources to the unhoused population, including hygiene facilities and shelter solutions. Our work serves as a prime example of successful cross-sector collaboration, demonstrating how combined efforts can create a tangible impact.

This meeting with Secretary Vilsack signifies a significant step forward in the national conversation surrounding homelessness. By fostering collaboration across various sectors, we can make substantial progress in preventing and ultimately addressing this complex issue in communities throughout the country.
